"I'm startled or taken aback when people walk up to me and tell me they are Christians. My first response is the question, 'Already?' It seems to me a lifelong endeavor to try to live the life of a Christian."

"Common Ground"

The new UCM worship team will come together for music at "Common Ground" on Monday, Jan. 28.

Scott will be preaching/teaching...

It starts at 7 p.m.

Here's a blurb:

Karl Barth, one of the great theologians of the 20th century, said, "To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world."

Come and be a part of our protest against the disorder of the world as we seek to know Christ, to make a difference in the world, and find our common ground.

This is the main gathering of students at UCM. It's worship, but it's more than what we typically mean when we say worship.

It's going to be designed to equip us, to challenge us, to confront us. There will be times it will all seem very familiar, and there will be times when we will be uncomfortable.

Christian Unity

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is something that UCM should probably celebrate.

Space for Grace

UCM will be offering a mid-week service at noon on Wednesdays.

This contemplative worship experience will begin at 12:15 and is designed to last about 30 minutes or less.

It will include scriptures, brief reflection on the scripture, silence, prayers, and the Eucharist (Lord's Supper/Holy Communion).

There will also be soup, bread, and drinks available after the service.

Everyone is welcome.

Meditation Room or Mosque?

A college has created a meditation space for the college community, but then caters to the Muslim students. Story here.

I will begin a new blog this weekend with information for campus ministries. More info to come. Woohoo.
