"Help us, Baby Jesus!"
AFA's witch hunt about businesses that don't use the word "Christmas" in their advertizing is just too much. I am sorry, but it doesn't offend me in the slightest if Sam's wants to call greeting cards "holiday cards" instead of "Christmas cards."
The truth is that you can find cards for Thanksgiving and New Year's and Kawanza and Hanukkah... sorry, AFA, but these are not "Christmas cards."
The celebration of Christmas has changed over the years, and I just can't imagine Jesus being upset about what we call ribbons, cards, and trees! Besides that, winter festivals DO pre-date the birth of Christ. While it is true that Christians celebrate Christmas in December, many folks who are of other religions celebrate "holidays" around the same time and this includes folks who are also non-religious. In what ways can we witness to the world without being the new Christian "politically correct police" and worry about the labels on material goods?
